Most of us can appreciate the added stress that the holidays can bring. It means more demands on our time, money, and energy. However, most of us do not stop to think about what the “holidays” actually mean in terms of how many weeks out of the year it involves. Let’s look at how this has changed over the past 60 years:
1950’s:
– Christmas through New Year’s (1 week = 2% of the year)
1980’s:
– Thanksgiving through New Year’s (5 weeks = 10% of the year)
Today:
– Halloween through Super Bowl Sunday (14 weeks = 27% of the year!)
Looking at these figures, it makes a little more sense on why the holidays are such a stressful time. It takes up a quarter of the year. There are 14 weeks of parties, high calorie foods, and added emotional stress. If this is making sense, get to our talk on November 9 @ 6:30 pm. We are going to give you some tools that will help you not only survive, but thrive this holiday season in all dimensions of your life.
